Build-an-Island Workshop Mrs. Shaffer's and Mr. Brown's social studies students have designed their own islands and built three-dimensional models of them. The students must meet certain criteria with regard to water, transportation, food and other physical and cultural geographic concepts that they have studied. They created four different maps: political, physical, economic/land use and climate, as well as graphs about the temperature and rainfall on their island. They also created an encyclopedia entry that describes their island.
